TV program “The Nineties”, curated by Danijela Purešević and transmitted on the 3rd Channel of the RTS - Serbian Radio Television network
Within “The Nineties”, invited by the art-historian and curator Danijela Purešević, I curated five-minute features on emerging fashion designers and phenomena called “Fashion in Belgrade”.
Although we managed to film only three episodes, the opportunity to showcase experimental, alternative, artistic, strange, ironic, and bizarre fashion on one of the leading TV channels of the national network was a big deal for all of us.
My task was to find designers and creatives, devise a way to showcase them on video, organise shooting and filming, find a location and models, and write a brief introduction.
These texts are brief intros of TV clips, which presented Hristina Radović, Mladen Tušup and a collective Eržike LSD.
In December 1992, when this TV clip was made, we were in the midst of the major conflicts in the former Yugoslavia: the ongoing Bosnian War and the Bosnian Serb-Croat War within it, as well as the Croatian War of Independence.
It was surreal to search for some sort of normality in this creative fashion-related work, but at the same time, for us, it seemed the only way to resist.
Eržike LSD was a loose and para-fashion collective that would appear in Belgrade nightclubs or other similar gatherings, dressed up in vintage garments, echoing the 70s lightness of the dance-floor and positivity of “Peace & Love” culture.
Suzana Zlatanović, Filip Maksimović, Duška Čavić - Žozi, Sanja Pulejković, and many others were part of this flamboyant community that lasted briefly, but had a lot of fun in the most improbable of times.

ERŽIKE LSD
Revival - as a feature of current times...
Revival - as reapplying and adapting, and, at the same time, building a new style on reflections of the past.
Revival - as Glam, Glitter and Gold, dance and disco sound, fashion flashback to the 70s, life, party, kitsch and Eržike LSD.
Fashion revival means combining authentic and eccentric, mixing '70s fashion details with contemporary, everyday clothes... making a patchwork of wardrobe “curiosities” and oddities with bizarre imagination, as a way to come up with something different and “new”.
Often, objects that we see as distinctly kitsch or completely out of fashion become part of an "artistic" context and suddenly change their sign and meaning.
They become “aestheticised” and even an attraction, a cool style or trend... Because they emerge from the overlay and contrast between seemingly incompatible and opposing elements.
Eržike LSD present this kind of image. They create their alter identity and become a part of the city's nightlife.
They are, as Warhol would say about his superstars: “some familiar and wacky kids" who carry the same pop, media culture spirit.
For them, fashion and fashion shows are the way to feel as if “THEY are what's HAPPENING”.
Eržike LSD are IN, as models and as creators on and off stage.
